Process:
You can apply for a personalized Alaska license plate online, by mail, or in person. Here's how to apply online:
- Visit the DMV website: Go to the Alaska DMV website and navigate to the personalized plates page.
- Choose your design: Select from a variety of plate designs.
- Enter your message: Type in the combination of letters, numbers, and spaces that you want on your plate.
- Check availability: See if your desired message is available. If it's not, try a different combination.
- Submit and pay: Complete the application and pay the fee online.
Rules:
- You can use any combination of letters, numbers, and spaces.
- You cannot use your ham radio call sign, special symbols (like -, #, %, &), or any language that is offensive, vulgar, or discriminatory.
- Your personalized message must be unique.
- The DMV can recall a personalized plate if it is deemed offensive or inappropriate.
