About GetMyLP
GetMyLP is a free tool that turns a sentence about you into personalized license plate ideas. Describe your name, job, hobbies, or anything else, and the generator suggests plates that fit the 5 to 7 character limit most DMVs use. You can preview each suggestion on any state's plate design.
Why it exists
Coming up with a vanity plate is harder than it looks. The good words are taken, the character limit is brutal, and the DMV rules differ in every state. We launched GetMyLP in 2023 to make the brainstorming part fun and fast, and added guides for all 50 states so you can take an idea from "that's clever" to "it's on my car".
How the generator works
Your description is sent to a large language model that returns seven plate ideas with a short explanation for each. Suggestions are ideas, not guarantees: availability and approval are decided by your state DMV, and each guide links to the official availability checker where one exists.
How we keep it free
The site is supported by advertising and by affiliate links. If you order a novelty plate through the "Get This Plate Made" button, we may earn a commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links never change which plates the generator suggests.
Who runs it
GetMyLP is built and maintained by Free AI Tools, a small independent studio. It is not affiliated with any state DMV or government agency. Questions, corrections to a state guide, or ideas are welcome on the contact page.
